Cargo consolidation in China
All your suppliers ship to our Shenzhen warehouse. We combine the orders, strip the air out of the packaging and ship a single load to your warehouse.
Respuesta rápida
What is cargo consolidation and how much does it save?
Cargo consolidation means receiving orders from several suppliers at a single warehouse and shipping them together as one international load. Instead of paying for a freight bill, a customs clearance and a delivery for each supplier, you pay for one of each. The saving has two components: the disappearance of the multiple freight bills, and the reduction in volume achieved by removing unnecessary packaging, which in light and bulky categories can cut between 20% and 40% off the transport invoice.

The problem it solves
An importer working with six different suppliers receives six shipments. Each one with its own freight bill, its own documentation, its own customs clearance and its own final delivery. On small loads, the fixed costs of each shipment far outweigh the value of the transport: a customs clearance costs practically the same for one carton as for a container, and a local delivery is billed the same for one pallet as for ten.
Consolidation turns those six shipments into one. Suppliers deliver in Shenzhen — many of them deliver free or for very little within Guangdong — and from there a single load leaves with a single set of documents.
How we reduce volume
Air freight and express courier are billed on volumetric weight, so the space the packaging occupies is paid for as if it were product. When the goods arrive we apply three standard cuts: we remove individual cartons when the product is already protected, we replace oversized packaging with packaging sized to the product, and we group units into master cartons when the supplier was shipping them loose.
In textile, plastic or kitchenware products, that work usually reduces billable volume by between 20% and 40%. In products that are already compact, such as boxed electronics, the margin is much smaller and we do not promise it.
What we do when your goods arrive
At receiving we check the reference, the quantity and the external condition of the packaging, and we send you photographs of what arrived. We document any dent, open carton or discrepancy before the goods enter the shipping flow: finding it at that point lets you claim against the supplier and reorder; finding it at destination does not.
From there the goods stay in storage until the load closes. During that time we can apply prep center services — SKU labelling, repacking, kitting — so the product leaves China ready to enter a MercadoLibre or Amazon warehouse with no further handling at destination.
When consolidation is NOT worth it
If your supplier already offers you a competitive DDP price for the full volume, adding a consolidation stage may not pay off. It is also not worth it when the product has a critical deadline and waiting for the rest of the load delays the launch: in that case it is better to ship separately and absorb the cost.
And it is not worth it when the load exceeds 15 cubic metres, because from that point a full 20-foot container is usually cheaper than consolidated sea freight. We will tell you when that happens instead of selling you a service that costs you more.
If you bought the goods yourself, we have not seen them
You can buy on any platform or from a supplier you already know and have it dispatched straight to our Shenzhen warehouse. It is a service we handle often, and it does not require the order to pass through us.
With one condition worth being clear about up front: on goods we did not purchase, we do not verify the origin, the lawfulness or whether they infringe third-party intellectual property rights. That responsibility sits with the buyer. If the goods turn out to be counterfeit or to infringe a patent, the seizure and the claim fall on whoever imports them, even though we were the ones who moved them.
If you want us to check the supplier before you buy, factory verification is a separate service with a published price.
| Without consolidation | Consolidated in Shenzhen | |
|---|---|---|
| International freight bills | Six invoices, each with its own minimum charge | One invoice for the whole load |
| Customs clearances | Six procedures, six times the fixed costs | One procedure for the entire load |
| Billed volume | As each supplier delivers it, packaging included | Reduced by removing cartons and packaging air |
| Local deliveries | Six deliveries, each billed with its own minimum | One delivery to your warehouse |
| Control over what arrived | Each carton opened at your warehouse, late | Checked and photographed in Shenzhen, before shipping |
| Documentation | Six sets, with a risk of mismatch | One set, reconciled against the packing list |

Frequently asked questions about cargo consolidation
What is cargo consolidation and how much does it save?
Cargo consolidation means gathering orders from several suppliers at our Shenzhen warehouse and shipping them together as a single load. The saving comes from two places: you stop paying a separate international freight bill for each supplier, and you remove the air from the packaging, which in products such as textiles, plastics or kitchenware can account for between 20% and 40% of the billed volume. On orders spread across several suppliers, the freight saving is usually the largest single line in the whole operation.
How long can I store my goods for free?
Storage is free for thirty calendar days from receipt of the first carton. After that a storage fee applies per cubic metre per week. If your cargo is waiting for another supplier to finish production, thirty days is usually enough; if you need to hold stock for longer so you can ship in batches, we quote that separately.
Can I consolidate goods from suppliers I did not buy through you?
Consolidating goods from suppliers you did not buy through us is allowed. We receive cargo from any supplier at our Shenzhen warehouse as long as you tell us in advance and give us the shipment details. It is a service that is often contracted on its own, when an importer already has their own suppliers but does not want to pay ten separate freight bills.
Do you check what arrives at the warehouse?
Yes. At receiving we check the reference, the quantity and the external condition of the packaging, and we send you photographs. If we find a dent, an open carton or a quantity discrepancy, we notify you before the goods enter the shipping process, while a claim against the supplier is still possible.
What is volumetric weight and why does it affect me?
In air freight and express courier services, the rate is calculated on the greater of the actual weight and the volumetric weight, which is the volume in cubic centimetres divided by a factor that depends on the carrier. A light, bulky product such as a pillow or a large empty carton is charged for the space it occupies rather than for what it weighs. Reducing packaging reduces the invoice even if you change nothing about the product.
Can you label and prepare goods for MercadoLibre or Amazon?
Yes, this is our prep center service. While the cargo is in the warehouse waiting for the rest of the shipment, we apply SKU labels, repack, build kits or bundles and palletise to the requirements of each platform. Doing it in China costs a fraction of doing it at destination and prevents the goods from being rejected when they reach the marketplace warehouse.
